“In the year 2000 I decided to follow the call that I had always heard from nature. My dream was to undertake a new business path in the world of agriculture, and to devote the greater part of my life to producing wine.
Today, this winery produces a top quality wine, an expression of the character and strength of this land.
The philosophy underpinning our work is hidden in the quality of the raw materials and in the workings of nature, adhering to the techniques of biodynamics.
"Wine does not talk, but it breathes", my father would say, and from his teachings I learned to treat this nectar as though it were a living being, in the most natural of ways. The wine is already in the grape, our job is merely to give it a helping hand, with as little fuss as possible, in its extraordinary evolutionary process.
We reserve special attention to our plants: two harvests a year, vines checked one by one, to make sure they do not over-produce, and are not fatigued. It is the meticulous care of a craftsman, waiting for the right ripeness of the grape and for the wine to age, without using chemicals or additives.
The wine begins its fascinating ageing process in prized oak barrels from Slovenia. After 10-12 months, a portion of the wine is bottled and sold as Rosso di Montalcino. The remainder continues to age slowly, until it becomes the famous Brunello di Montalcino.
A small selection of grapes is fermented and aged separately, to safeguard their character and peculiarity, and in excellent years is set aside for the production of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva”.
